ABOUT LEE
My practice draws on 20+ years of combined legal experience in Arizona, the United States and beyond. I have a passion for music and I enjoy helping people who are committed to spreading music around the world.
For the first 10 years of my career, I was a trial lawyer in Arizona. As a member of the Major Crimes Division of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, I tried numerous felony cases before juries. From 2001 to 2005, I practiced criminal and civil litigation as an associate, then partner, in the Phoenix office of Quarles & Brady LLP.
From 2005 through 2015, I worked as in-house counsel for global consumer goods and manufacturing companies - Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (2005 to 2012), and Hill's Pet Nutrition, a Colgate-Palmolive subsidiary (2012-2015).
My main areas of responsibility at Fender included legal support for the company's global manufacturing, distribution and sales infrastructure; brand protection (e.g., trademark oppositions/cancellations, C&D matters, and anti-counterfeiting); inbound and outbound licensing; co-branding ventures; enterprise software agreements; contract drafting/negotiation/enforcement; US and EU consumer protection and online privacy laws; regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions; and digital advertising.
As Chief Marketing Counsel for Hill's, I had primary legal responsibility for supporting the company's advertising and marketing teams in the US, Canada, the EU, Russia, Australia and Asia. I also trained Hill's and Colgate business teams worldwide on legal subjects including advertising law, competition law, commercial selling principles, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and anti-bribery laws. I also served as an internal compliance investigator for Colgate-Palmolive in the United States, Turkey and Europe.
I have been an active musician and live performer for over 30 years. My family and I are avid animal lovers - we have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 4 parakeets and a ridiculous number of finches.
